Creating projects and setting up the migration is very easy, as is running staged or full migrations. The pricing for MigrationWiz is reasonable for jobs from 1 to about 50 mailboxes and for smaller Public Folder databases. Mailboxes greater than 50 GB must utilize a higher-priced User Migration Bundle at about a 25% premium over the Mailbox Migration price.

Despite the relatively high price of MigrationWiz over CodeTwo, our preferred migration platform for on-premise Exchange server migrations, there are often promotions available from Microsoft 365 distributors for migrating to new Microsoft 365 accounts through their services. We particularly like their email migration solution for migrating an on-premise Exchange server to Microsoft 365.

Unlike MigrationWiz, which does a great job of cloud-to-cloud migrations, CodeTwo installs on a server or workstation to perform the migration. This is what makes it the ideal choice for performing an on-premise Exchange to Microsoft 365 migration. There is less Internet traffic involved and only one remote host (Microsoft’s servers) involved.

Pricing for CodeTwo is very favourable, particularly if a large number of mailboxes are involved. The pricing is tiered and continues to decrease starting at 10 mailboxes. If you’re migrating a large (greater than 30 GB) public folder database, CodeTwo is the hands-down choice over MigrationWiz from a cost perspective. CodeTwo uses 25 mailbox licenses for public folders, regardless of the size. MigrationWiz charges for every 10 GB of public folder space being migrated.

Custom digital signage using PADS

We have recently had the opportunity to install arena schedule digital signage at the Don Hartman Northeast Sportsplex and Cardel Place in Calgary.  For both installations, we chose PADS 3.1 Standalone from Net Display Systems of the Netherlands.  The reason for our choice was the flexibility, ease of deployment and professional looking results of PADS.

One of the key features of the arena display solution is the integration with CLASS booking software.  Custom front-end databases were developed to read the CLASS information and allow display-specific customizations, such as dressing room assignments and home/visitor team names. This custom data is then accessed by the PADS software and presented on the display screens.  Other information, such as sports RSS feeds, custom messages, advertising and a TV tuner box are all incorporated on the high definition display.
